Civil E.I.T. Position
Job Summary
Element Design is looking for a Full-Time Engineer in Training (EIT) for our Lexington, KY office. This entry level position will consider graduate engineers recently entering the work force. Under close supervision, this position will support the Senior Engineers and Landscape Architects by performing the routine aspects of site design assignments, including design support for all aspects of site design including stormwater, wastewater, and other site utilities. The successful candidate will be a team player who is willing to learn from and work with a highly talented and experienced team.
Responsibilities and Duties
Perform civil design calculations to support planning and design projects.
Assist in preparation of engineering reports.
Assist in developing graphic communication of designs, including charts, profiles, and models as required.
Coordinate project assignments with other design team members.
Assist with review of drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and engineers and architects and recommend necessary changes.
Research code issues and work with City, State, and County officials and assist with project permitting.
Research design options and document findings for Project Engineers and/or Project Managers.
Assist with other duties assigned by Project Managers.
Attend design review meetings and interact with clients as his or her level of experience progresses.
Perform site visits, both supervised and unsupervised, as needed to document findings in the field.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor of Science Degree, Civil Engineering. EIT required.
1 to 4 years of experience working toward PE Certification.
Demonstrated educational and / or work experience showing strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
Experience with AutoCAD required, specifically with Civil 3D preferred. Experience with Revit a plus, but not required.
Interest and experience in stormwater design, site grading, and site utility design.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite software preferred.
Self motivated and able to work independently on multiple tasks.
Willingness to perform a variety of activities as needed by the team.
