Site / Civil Designer Position
Job Summary
Element Design is looking for a Full-Time Site / Civil Designer for our Lexington, KY office. This mid-level position will consider designers with site design experience working for a civil engineering, architectural, or landscape architectural firm or department. Under close supervision, this position will support the Senior Engineers and Landscape Architects with the development of high-quality site design projects. The successful candidate will be a team player who is willing to learn from and work with a highly talented and experienced team.
Responsibilities and Duties
Assist in developing drawings to support planning and design projects.
Assist in preparation of engineering reports.
Assist in developing graphic communication of designs, including charts, profiles, and models as required.
Coordinate project assignments with other design team members.
Assist with review of drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and engineers and architects and recommend necessary changes.
Research code issues and work with City, State, and County officials and assist with permitting for projects.
Research design options and document findings for Project Managers.
Assist with other duties assigned by Project Managers.
Attend design review meetings and interact with clients.
Perform site visits, both supervised and unsupervised, as needed to document findings in the field.
Qualifications and Skills
Associate’s or Technical Degree from an accredited program in Civil Engineering Technology, Computer Aided Drafting & Design or a related field required.
Minimum 5 years of experience working in Landscape Architecture, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Demonstrated work experience showing strong drafting skills and development of construction drawings.
Proficiency with AutoCad required, experience specifically with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred. Experience with Revit a plus, but not required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite software preferred.
Experience with 3D modelling and rendering software such as Lumion is desired.
Interest and experience in all aspects of site design, including stormwater design, site grading, and site utility design.
Self-motivated and able to work independently on multiple tasks.
Willingness to perform a variety of activities as needed by the team.
